Top Station is one of the highest viewpoints in Munnar, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Western Ghats and the valleys of Tamil Nadu. Located at 1,880 meters above sea level, this serene destination is famous for its mist-covered hills, cool climate, and breathtaking sunrise views. It’s an essential stop for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking peace amidst the clouds.
Situated about 32 km from Munnar town on the Munnar–Kodaikanal Road, Top Station lies on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It was once a transshipment point for tea transported from Munnar to Tamil Nadu and gets its name from the highest railway station in the Kundala Valley Railway (now defunct).
The road to Top Station is dotted with tea plantations, waterfalls, and scenic curves. Along the way, you can stop at Echo Point, Kundala Lake, and Mattupetty Dam. The viewpoint itself offers a dramatic cliffside drop, vast sky, and clean mountain air that makes every moment memorable.
Top Station is a breathtaking escape into the high ranges of Kerala, where clouds dance over mountaintops and every view is a postcard. Whether you’re traveling solo, with family, or on a romantic trip, this serene spot is perfect for reflection, nature appreciation, and capturing the grandeur of the Western Ghats.
